THE ENTREPRENEURIAL EXPERIENCE

Startup Pirates is not an event. It is a whole experience for life.

In this one-week program, our pirates dive in the startup world and have the opportunity and the tools to develop a business idea from scratch.

But if you think Startup Pirates is only about developing one idea, think again. This is a whole experience, the ultimate entrepreneurship trial, the entrance to a unique and exclusive worldwide community of change-makers and the boost you've been waiting for.

We gather the most promising aspiring entrepreneurs and fearless experienced guests to share and learn together in a combination of workshops, mentoring, inspirational moments and some wild surprises.

This is not the place to be taught, is the place to learn!

"Tell me and I forget, teach me and I may remember, involve me and I learn." - Benjamin Franklin

Son of a tailor I am; But no Sailor I shall be; I’d rather love Rum than the Great wild sea; You see, dealing with the fog; Or the stormy waters; It is no easy task; As In the wild sea monsters do live; Ships do sink; Good old sailors see their minds lost; Therefore I am; On the pirates Bay; Looking at the stars, listening what they say; Routing is a craft; From all the ones I know best; I am no sailor; But ARRRR!!!! Pirate I

Luis Quental Pereira

Speaker

Initially trained as an industrial designer, he has post-graduate studies in business and design. More than 20 years of professional experience in managing innovation and creativity. He worked as an industrial designer for manufacturers such as Vulcano (Bosch) in Portugal and Steelcase in the US. He was HCI Director at IconMedialab (now LBi). Today he is managing partner atQuotidianwhere he has been working for clients in banking, telecommunications and retail, among many other industries. The approach we now call “design thinking” is underpinned in an attitude of exploration and search. Search for opportunities among real needs that people may have. Search of solutions that are technologically buildable. Finally, search for economically viable ways to implement and deliver those solutions. As in design, it is people that must be put at the center of this search: it is by exploring their everyday living that strategic opportunities are identified and it is by allowing their participation in the creation and in the production that we are able to invent tomorrow’s new sustainable meanings.
